Search for $\beta^+$EC and ECEC processes in $^{112}$Sn and $\beta^-\beta^-$ decay of $^{124}$Sn to the excited states of $^{124}$Te

open access: yes, 2008
Limits on $\beta^+$EC and ECEC processes in $^{112}$Sn and on $\beta^-\beta^-$ decay of $^{124}$Sn to the excited states of $^{124}$Te have been obtained using a 380 cm$^3$ HPGe detector and an external source consisting of natural tin.

High‐energy synchrotron X‐ray multimodal computed tomography: enabling multiscale materials characterization at NSLS‐II

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 531-542, March 2026.
The development of multimodal X‐ray computed tomography capabilities, including imaging, fluorescence, diffraction, and scattering, at the 28‐ID‐2 beamline of the National Synchrotron Light Source II is described. We report the commissioning of a multimodal computed tomography experimental setup at the 28‐ID‐2 (XPD) beamline of the National Synchrotron ...

Preliminary study of feasibility of an experiment looking for excited state double beta transitions in tin

open access: yes, 2015
An attempt to study the feasibility of a new experiment to search for double beta decay in $^{112}$Sn and $^{124}$Sn was carried out by using ultra-low background HPGe detector (244 cm$^{3}$) inside the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) of the INFN ...

Development and dosimetric evaluation of a freely deformable 6Li‐based neutron shield for boron neutron capture therapy

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Background Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) enables selective tumor irradiation by exploiting the high‐linear energy transfer particles generated from neutron interactions with 10B atoms. BNCT has been approved as an insurance‐covered medical treatment for recurrent head and neck cancer in Japan.

Interference Corrections During EDXRF Determination of Molybdenum and Sulphur in Powder Samples

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 7, 19 February 2026.
ABSTRACT Complete elemental characterization of Molybdenum sulfide, an electro‐catalyst for hydrogen evolution reactions, is essential without much compromise on the material integrity. Energy dispersive x‐ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometry can non‐destructively determine the chemical composition.

Strengths of the resonances at 436, 479, 639, 661, and 1279 keV in the $^{22}$Ne(p,$\gamma$)$^{23}$Na reaction

open access: yes, 2015
The $^{22}$Ne(p,$\gamma$)$^{23}$Na reaction is included in the neon-sodium cycle of hydrogen burning. A number of narrow resonances in the Gamow window dominates the thermonuclear reaction rate. Several resonance strengths are only poorly known.

Use of Contaminated Habitat and Associated Selenium Uptake Mediate Haemosporidian Parasite Infections in Wild Passerine Birds

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
We conducted a community‐scale field study to evaluate whether trace element contaminants derived from coal combustion residuals and nuclear fission products alter the dynamics of haemosporidian blood parasites, dipteran vectors, and avian hosts in riparian and wetland habitats in South Carolina, USA.

Novel method for determining of 137Cs in seawater using liquid scintillation counter

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Robust and efficient monitoring of radiocesium in the marine environment has become increasingly important, especially following the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. A liquid scintillation counter (LSC) has been used for 137Cs analysis—which was identified as one of the hazardous radionuclides; however, a major limitation of ...
