HPS FOR BEGINNER/HPS FOR INTERMEDIATE

open access: yesTHE JOURNAL OF JAPAN SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL ANESTHESIA, 2004
Human Patient Simulator (HPS) family and Emergency Care Simulator (ECS), both manufactured by Medical Education Technologies Inc., (METI), are very unique model-driven high fidelity patient simulators in the world. We arranged two presentations, HPS FOR BEGINNER and HPS FOR INTERMEDIATE, for these workshops.HPS FOR BEGINNER : It contains a history of ...

Hidden Photons from the Sun

open access: yes, 2010
A brief account of the phenomenon of photon oscillations into sub-eV mass hidden photons is given and used to estimate the flux and properties of these hypothetical particles from the Sun.

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its

Bayesian `Hyper-Parameters' Approach to Joint Estimation: The Hubble Constant from CMB Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Recently several studies have jointly analysed data from different cosmological probes with the motivation of estimating cosmological parameters. Here we generalise this procedure to take into account the relative weights of various probes.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Cosmological parameters from large scale structure - geometric versus shape information

open access: yes, 2010
The matter power spectrum as derived from large scale structure (LSS) surveys contains two important and distinct pieces of information: an overall smooth shape and the imprint of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO).

Emerging communities of child-healthcare practice in the management of long-term conditions such as chronic kidney disease: Qualitative study of parents' accounts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Parents of children and young people with long-term conditions who need to deliver clinical care to their child at home with remote support from hospital-based professionals, often search the internet for care-giving information.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...
