Channel protection - turbulence downstream of structures - interim report (SR 265) [PDF]
A survey carried out by HR Wallingford for CIRIA has shown that, despite considerable amount of past research on channel protection materials, and in particular on riprap, the available methods gave widely-varying predictions.

ABSTRACT Background Relative energy deficiency in sport (REDs) is associated with impaired performance and compromised bone health in elite athletes. While reduced bone mineral density (BMD) and increased risk for bone stress injuries are well documented, the underlying metabolic mechanisms remain poorly understood.

ABSTRACT Metal plates are commonly used for the fixation of metacarpal fractures, but are associated with complications such as tendon adhesions that impair finger mobility. AdhFix, a novel osteosynthesis material, may reduce these complications, but its biomechanical performance in the metacarpal region remains untested.

Using HR-pQCT and finite element analysis to inform clinical assessment of distal radius fractures
Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are commonly treated non-operatively with cast immobilization; however, there are no standardized clinical practice guidelines to direct optimal duration of immobilization following a DRF.

Poole bay and harbour strategy study. Computational modelling studies. [PDF]
In November 2001 HR Wallingford undertook numerical modelling studies as part of the Poole Bay coastal defence strategy study. The specific scope of work comprised studies to improve the knowledge of sediment transport patterns under waves and tidal ...

Assessment of Cortical Interruptions in the Finger Joints of Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Using HR-pQCT, Radiography, and MRI [PDF]
Small cortical interruptions may be the first sign of an erosion, and more interruptions can be found in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) compared with healthy subjects.
