Neurocardiology: Brain–Heart Interactions in the Heart
The heart and brain maintain systemic homeostasis through bidirectional communication involving neural, biochemical, and mechanical pathways. Dysregulation of these pathways contributes to a spectrum of conditions involving heart–brain interactions, including Takotsubo syndrome, the epileptic heart, stroke–heart syndrome, heart failure, cardiac ...

An exploratory pilot study on the effects of HRV biofeedback on pregnant women and fetuses [PDF]
Pregnant women at last trimester are prone to anxiety and depression, which could exert a long-term influence on both the mother and fetuses. Managing anxiety with Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRVB) is possible mechanism for its fame to strengthen homeostasis via favorably altering the activity of the autonomic nervous system.

Design and Evaluation of an Ambient Lighting Interface of HRV Biofeedback System in Home Setting [PDF]
Chronic stress puts individuals at an increasing risk of numerous health problems. In this study, we present an ambient lighting interface of a biofeedback system that helps users to self-regulate their breathing pattern in a home environment. To evaluate the usability and functionality of the ambient lighting interface, an experiment was conducted ...
