Active space debris removal by a hybrid propulsion module [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
During the last 40 years, the mass of the artificial objects in orbit increased quite steadily at the rate of about 145 metric tons annually, leading to a total tally of approximately 7000 metric tons.

Moisture And Temperature Ageing On htpb Based Propellants Binder

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, Volume 414, Issue 3, June 2025.
Abstract This study reports the impact of temperature, oxygen, and humidity ageing on the mechanical properties of a crosslinked hydroxy‐terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) network. Its mechanical behavior is described using a classical Mooney‐Rivlin model and shows a slight crosslinking reaction possibly due to oxidation of HTPB.

Influence of AP Particle Size on Burning Characteristics of HMX/AP Propellants Supplemented with Fe2O3

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 50, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Nitramine propellants have attracted considerable attention in the domain of solid rockets and gun propulsion because of their energetic and smokeless features. Ammonium perchlorate (AP) is the widely used oxidizer in propellants owing to the excellent burning characteristics.

Metal Oxides and Dichromate Salts Application as Burning Catalysts for the Modern Aluminized Ammonium Nitrate–Based Solid Propellants

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 50, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT This study is devoted to the investigation of combustion characteristics of aluminized solid propellants (SPs) with ammonium nitrate (SP4, 44 wt.% and SP5, 66 wt.%), ammonium perchlorate (5 wt.%), and inert (butyl rubber) and active (polyvinyl tetrazole) binders.
