Hub Airports, the knowledge economy and how close is close? Evidence from Europe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Airports have stepped beyond the stage of being simply pure infrastructure facilities. Hub airports in particular are considered to function as supra-regional and international gateway infrastructure thus having a decisive impact on firms ...

Targeting the ARRDC3–DRP1 Axis via hUMSC‐Derived Exosomal CRYAB for Neuroprotection in Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Intranasally administered hUMSC‐derived exosomes modulate the CRYAB–ARRDC3–Drp1 axis, alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction and ferroptosis, enhancing neuronal survival, reducing oxidative stress, and promoting functional recovery in ischemia‐reperfusion injury, offering a promising therapeutic strategy for ischemic stroke.

Hub location and hub network design

open access: yes, 2009
The hub location problem deals with finding the location of hub facilities and allocating the demand nodes to these hub facilities so as to effectively route the demand between origin?destination pairs. Hub location problems arise in various application settings in telecommunication and transportation.

Hub locations in urban multimodal networks

open access: yesEuropean Transport / Trasporti Europei, 2012
The present paper deals with the problem of locating hubs for freight mobility in urban and suburban areas. In particular, we present a heuristic method that combines aspects coming from both classical simple plant location problems and shortest path ones on multimodal graphs.

Teetered, tip-controlled rotor: Preliminary test results from Mod-0 100-kW experimental wind turbine [PDF]

open access: yes
Results of tests conducted using the MOD-0 100 kW experimental wind turbine are evaluated. The teetered rotor significantly decreased loads on the yaw drive mechanism and reduced blade cyclic flapwise bending moments by 25 percent at the 20 percent span ...

Opinion: Gavage Administration of MXene as a Route‐Specific Alternative to Intravenous Injection into the Bloodstream of Laboratory Animals for Reducing Systemic Nanotoxicity Risks in Immunosuppression and Post‐Transplantation Models with Bile Acid Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Recent studies reported immunosuppressive properties of specific MXene nanomaterials. Their intravenous injection into the bloodstream of laboratory animals has been a common delivery method to suppress systemic inflammation and prevent transplant rejection.

Concentrated mass effects on the flutter of a composite advanced turboprop model [PDF]

open access: yes
The effects on bending-torsion flutter due to the addition of a concentrated mass to an advanced turboprop model blade with rigid hub are studied. Specifically the effects of the magnitude and location of added mass on the natural frequencies, mode ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...
