The Hub Line Location Problem

Transportation Science, 2015
This paper presents the hub line location problem in which the location of a set of hub facilities connected by means of a path (or line) is considered. Potential applications arise in the design of public transportation and rapid transit systems, where network design costs greatly dominate routing costs and thus full interconnection of hub facilities

Lower Bounds for the Hub Location Problem

Management Science, 1995
We present a new lower bound for the Hub Location Problem (HLP) where distances satisfy the triangle inequality. Our lower bound is based on a linearization of the problem and its modification obtained by incorporating the knowledge of a known heuristic solution.

The Dynamic Uncapacitated Hub Location Problem

Transportation Science, 2011
This paper presents a dynamic (or multi-period) hub location problem. It proposes a branch-and-bound algorithm that uses a Lagrangian relaxation to obtain lower and upper bounds at the nodes of the tree. The Lagrangian function exploits the structure of the problem and can be decomposed into smaller subproblems that can be solved efficiently.

A Survey of Hub Location Problems

Journal of Interconnection Networks, 2019
Hub location problems originated in telecommunications and transportation systems. They combine various aspects of network issues, including location problems, network design problems and routing problems. The main theme of these problems is to route the services via a subset of hubs, rather than route each service with direct links between demand ...

Capacitated hub location problems with waiting time at hubs

2011 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, 2011
A new subject in the scope of capacitated hub location problems is presented. In most of postal networks or data and airline networks, hubs are special facilities that act as consolidation, sorting and distribution centers of flow. Since the models dealing with these problems focus on economic benefits with respect to costs of routing and opening hubs,
