A non-triangular hub location problem
Optimization Letters, 2019Hub location problems generally assume that the triangle inequality applies on the edges of a complete graph. Hence the flow between any pair of nodes requires at most two hubs for the transfer process. Here we relax the triangle inequality restriction and present two new formulations of the uncapacitated multiple allocation p-hub median problem that ...

Hub Location and the p-Hub Median Problem
Operations Research, 1996Hub facilities serve as switching and transshipment points in transportation and communication networks. Hub networks concentrate flows on the hub-to-hub links and benefit from economies of scale in interhub transportation. Most hub location research has focused on problems where each origin/destination is allocated to a single hub.

The fuzzy reliable hub location problem
2010 Annual Meeting of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society, 2010A Hub Location Problem (HLP) deals with finding the locations of hub facilities and assignment of demand nodes to established facilities. Due to special characteristics of HLP, the overall performance of the network highly depends on proper performance of hubs. Therefore, the design of reliable networks is a critical issue to be considered.

2009
One of the novel topics in location problems is the hub location problem. There are plenty of applications for the hub location problem; therefore, this section is dedicated to introducing this problem to readers. The preface is composed of three parts: apprehensions, definitions, and classifications of the hub location problem.

Heuristics for a hub location‐routing problem
Networks, 2016We investigate a variant of the many‐to‐many hub location‐routing problem which consists in partitioning the set of nodes of a graph into routes containing exactly one hub each, and determining an extra route interconnecting all hubs. A variable neighborhood descent with neighborhood structures based on remove/add, swap and exchange moves nested with ...

The tree‐of‐hubs location problem with interhub stopovers
International Transactions in Operational ResearchAbstract The tree‐of‐hubs location problem (THLP) is a variant of the classical hub location problem, in which the set of hubs must be connected in a tree topology. The key decision variables involve the selection of hub locations, the allocation of spokes to hubs, and the design of a tree‐structured interhub network.

The gateway hub location problem
Journal of Air Transport Management, 2018Abstract We introduce the Gateway Hub Location Problem (GHLP) to design global air transportation systems. Relying on a three-level hub network structure and on having nodes located in different geographic regions, the GHLP consists of locating international gateways and domestic hubs, activating arcs to induce a connected gateway and hub network ...
