A Multiphase and Multicomponent Model Considering Molecular Diffusion for Simulating Shale Oil Reservoirs With Complex Fracture Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Molecular diffusion is a critical mechanism of enhance oil recovery (EOR) in developing shale oil reservoir by huff “n” puff. The ultra‐low permeability lead to the accumulation of injected gas within the complex fracture networks (CFNs), thereby, enhancing concentration gradient and mass transfer by molecular diffusion between the CFNs and matrix.

Combining Physical and Numerical Simulation to Investigate the Carbon Dioxide Huff \u27N\u27 Puff Process for Enhanced Light Oil Recovery. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Cyclic CO$\sb2$ injection, more commonly referred to as the CO$\sb2$ huff \u27n\u27 puff process, is an enhanced oil recovery method which targets remaining oil. Initially used for heavy oil recovery, it has been applied recently to the enhanced recovery

Measurement and analysis of oil-gas diffusion at reservoir conditions: application to huff-n-puff EOR in unconventional reservoirs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Due to the extremely low permeability and high depletion rate, primary recovery from unconventional reservoirs is generally low. Huff-n-Puff has proved to be a successful EOR technique in tight formations, such as the Eagle Ford.
