N,N‐dimethyltryptamine and Amazonian ayahuasca plant medicine

open access: yesHuman Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental, Volume 37, Issue 3, May 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective Reports have indicated possible uses of ayahuasca for the treatment of conditions including depression, addictions, post‐traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and specific psychoneuroendocrine immune system pathologies. The article assesses potential ayahuasca and N,N‐dimethyltryptamine (DMT) integration with contemporary healthcare ...

Disturbance‐specific behavioral responses of giant otters exposed to ecotourism and extractive activities

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, Volume 25, Issue 1, Page 15-26, February 2022., 2022
Behavioral responses of animals to human activity can vary by the type and intensity of disturbance. Giant otters foraged more successfully in protected areas, avoided research vessels in mined and fished lakes and showed tolerance to human presence when previously exposed to ecotourism.

UITOTO: a software for generating molecular diagnoses for species descriptions

open access: yesCladistics, Volume 42, Issue 2, Page 193-205, April 2026.
Abstract Millions of species remain undescribed, and each eventually will require a species description with a diagnosis. Yet, we lack software that can derive state‐specific and contrastive molecular diagnoses and allows the user to validate them based on all available sequences for the taxon under study. Here we introduce UITOTO, which addresses this

Through an ethnographically surrealist montage of multiple elements across the themes of accumulation, architecture, and art, cannibal salvage expenditure emerges as a subversive ...

Integrating multiple data sources to develop range and area of habitat maps tailored for local contexts

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 30, Issue 10, October 2024.
Abstract Aim Global species distribution maps tend to be limited to a reduced number of species or are too coarse to inform ecological research and conservation actions at local scales. We developed a workflow to generate species range and area of habitat (AOH) maps tailored to local contexts based on expert information, community science observations ...

A typology of denominal verb formation strategies

open access: yesLanguage and Linguistics Compass, Volume 18, Issue 3, May/June 2024.
Abstract This article aims to fill a gap in the typological literature by discussing the typology of overt denominal verb formation strategies, that is, morphosyntactic strategies other than conversion/zero‐derivation that are used to derive a verb from a nominal base.

Predicting animal abundance through local ecological knowledge: An internal validation using consensus analysis

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 6, Issue 2, Page 535-547, April 2024.
Abstract Given the ongoing environmental degradation from local to global scales, it is fundamental to develop more efficient means of gathering data on species and ecosystems. Local ecological knowledge, in which local communities can consistently provide information on the status of animal species over time, has been shown to be effective.
