Hull-form optimization of KSUEZMAX to enhance resistance performance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
This paper deploys optimization techniques to obtain the optimum hull form of KSUEZMAX at the conditions of full-load draft and design speed. The processes have been carried out using a RaPID-HOP program.

Bow hull-form optimization in waves of a 66,000 DWT bulk carrier

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2017
This paper uses optimization techniques to obtain bow hull form of a 66,000 DWT bulk carrier in calm water and in waves. Parametric modification functions of SAC and section shape of DLWL are used for hull form variation.

Numerical Research on Global Ice Loads of Maneuvering Captive Motion in Level Ice

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
In level ice, the maneuvering motion of icebreakers has a major influence on the global ice loads of the hull. This study researched the influences of the drift angle and turning radius on the ice loads of the icebreaker Xue Long through a partial ...

Numerical Investigation of Length to Beam Ratio Effects on Ship Resistance Using Ranse Method

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2023
The paper discusses the length to beam (L/B) ratio effects on ship resistance at three different Froude numbers using unsteady RANSE simulation. First, the JBC ship model was used as an initial hull form for verification and validation of predicted ship ...

A Rational Quadratic Trigonometric Spline (RQTS) as a Superior Surrogate to Rational Cubic Spline (RCS) with the Purpose of Designing

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
A key technique for modeling 2D objects is built using a Bézier-like rational quadratic trigonometric function with two form parameters. Since they are generated employing weights, the suggested rational quadratic trigonometric spline curve schemes are ...

Comparisons of Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Superyacht with Respect to the Variation of Hull Form [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Naval Architects of Korea, 2008
Abstract There are various hull types on the mid-size superyachts around 30 ~ 45m. In any case, it is important to design the proper hull shape in viewpoint of the reduction of wave resistance, because small vessels such as superyachts are running at relatively higher Froude Number than other merchant ships.

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Total Hull Resistance on Floating Catamaran Pontoon for N219 Seaplanes based on Biomimetics Design with Clearance Configuration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2020
Seaplanes are planes that can take off and land from the surface of water. Due to their ability to take off and land from the surface of water, seaplanes need a pair of pontoons in the form of a catamaran hull at the bottom of seaplanes so that the ...

A Numerical Application of Ship Parametric Roll under Second Generation Stability Criteria [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Eta Maritime Science, 2019
In this study, the parametric roll motion for the benchmark container ship form C11 is investigated by using the second generation stability criteria, which were intensively studied by IMO (International Maritime Organization).

Analysis of trimaran-pentamaran side hull location based on clearance and staggers with stern form variations [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
An optimum design of ship is to achieve the required speed with minimum power requirements. On multihull, sidehull position against to mainhull influences the friction resistance and its stability. Frictional resistance of multi-hull increases due to the addition of wetted surface area of hull, but wave making resistance can be lowered by a slender ...
