Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

About on the obtaining of some quantum code parameters from (−2vm−1 + 1)-constacyclic codes over the ring R = 𝔽q + v𝔽q + · · · + vm−1𝔽q

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica
In this study, the hull dimensions of (−2vm−1 +1)-constacyclic codes over the ring R = 𝔽q + v𝔽q + · · · + vm−1𝔽q with vm = v are determined. In addition, by using a special Gray map, a necessary condition is given under which the generator polynomial of ...

Mechanically Mutable Matrices: A Hierarchical Investigation of Decellularized Sea Cucumber Collagen as an Adaptable Scaffold Material

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber mutable collagenous tissue (MCT) is a remarkable collagen‐based material which can rapidly undergo large changes in stiffness through transiently bound effector proteins. Here, we investigate the hierarchical structure and mechanical response of MCT from Cucumaria frondosa across length scales with a wide range of methods, also exploring ...

Quantifying Patterns of Smooth Muscle Motility in the Gut and Other Organs With New Techniques of Video Spatiotemporal Mapping

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
The uses and limitations of the various techniques of video spatiotemporal mapping based on change in diameter (D-type ST maps), change in longitudinal strain rate (L-type ST maps), change in area strain rate (A-type ST maps), and change in luminous ...

Production of high protein yeast using enzymatically liquefied almond hulls.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Animal feed ingredients, especially those abundant in high quality protein, are the most expensive component of livestock production. Sustainable alternative feedstocks may be sourced from abundant, low value agricultural byproducts.

Increasing Inter‐Micellar Connectivity Toughens and Imparts Cooling‐Induced Shape Memory in Micellar Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oligomerizing Pluronic triblock copolymers provides a processing strategy for tuning the mechanical properties and stimuli‐responsive behaviors of micellar hydrogels. Varying oligomer fraction produces hydrogels spanning brittle to highly extensible responses; maintaining micellar architectures enables cooling‐induced reverse thermal shape memory and ...

Highway hull revisited

open access: yesComputational Geometry, 2010
A highway H is a line in the plane on which one can travel at a greater speed than in the remaining plane. One can choose to enter and exit H at any point. The highway time distance between a pair of points is the minimum time required to move from one point to the other, with optional use of H.

Mechanistically Interpretable Artificial Intelligence for Designing Oxygen Electrocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mechanistically interpretable artificial intelligence screens nearly seven million perovskite compositions and identifies key descriptors—d‐p hybridization and densification resistance—that govern oxygen electrocatalysis. The discovered BaCo0.8Nb0.1Zr0.1O3‐δ achieves a record 2.68 W cm−2 peak power density at 600°C with over 500 h of durable operation ...

Enhancement of the Adsorption of Co(II) and Ni(II) Ions onto Peanut Hulls through Esterification Using Citric Acid

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2005
Peanut hulls were modified chemically by esterification with citric acid under conditions which yielded hulls rich in carboxyl content. The esterified products thus obtained were used in the removal of Co(II) and Ni(II) ions from aqueous solutions.
