Abstract In the not-too-distant future, technology might help us decide which school to attend, what career path to pursue, and whether to marry and have children. It might also help our governments decide how much to tax their citizens, which regulations to impose on businesses, how to manage energy consumption and distribute healthcare

Human-in-the-Loop Vehicle ReID
Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2023Vehicle ReID has been an active topic in computer vision, with a substantial number of deep neural models proposed as end-to-end solutions. In this paper, we solve the problem from a new perspective and present an interesting variant called human-in-the-loop vehicle ReID to leverage interactive (and possibly wrong) human feedback signal for performance

Human-in-the-loop Augmented Mapping
2018 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2018In this paper we develop a real-time human augmented mapping system. This approach replaces the traditional offline post processing of maps by a user-friendly system allowing for online editing capabilities. A wide number of applications that acquire accurate mapping of the environment could benefit from such a solution. The proposed framework consists

In classical man-machine interfaces applied to rehabilitation, the primary goal is to control the (bio)mechanical interaction between the human and the machine or environment. However, integrating the human into the loop can be considered not only from a biomechanical view but also with regard to psychophysiological aspects.

Human-in-the-loop active electrosense
Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, 2016Active electrosense is a non-visual, short range sensing system used by weakly electric fish, enabling such fish to locate and identify objects in total darkness. Here we report initial findings from the use of active electrosense for object localization during underwater teleoperation with a virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD).
