Human Amniotic Membrane as a Physiologic Wound Dressing

Archives of Surgery, 1974
In 65 patients, split-thickness donor sites were covered with amniotic membrane. Amniotic membrane was used to dress partialthickness burns in 42 patients. In rats, open wounds were covered with amnion and in others it was placed in a subcutaneous pocket. The amnion acted as a comfortable and effective wound dressing.

Cryopreserved human amniotic membrane for ocular surface reconstruction

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2000
Amniotic membrane transplantation is used for the reconstruction of the ocular surface in the context of, for example, corneal ulcers or conjunctival scarring. The mechanisms by which preserved amniotic membrane grafts promote reepithelialization are unknown.

A skin substitute based on human amniotic membrane

Cell and Tissue Banking, 2014
Human amniotic membrane (HAM) has biological properties which are useful for wound healing. HAM is notably one of the therapeutic alternatives for venous leg ulcer care. Indeed, a prospective clinical study has demonstrated that cryopreserved HAM transplantation for leg ulcer is feasible, safe and has beneficial effects: 80 % of the patients had a ...

Bone Marrow Stem Cell and Decellularized Human Amniotic Membrane for the Treatment of Nonhealing Wound After Radiation Therapy.

Experimental and Clinical Transplantation, 2019
OBJECTIVES In this study, our aim was to create a bioactive wound dressing that combined decellularized and lyophilized human amniotic membrane and freeze-dried rat bone marrow stem cells for the treatment of nonhealing wounds.

THE MAINTENANCE OF HUMAN AMNIOTIC MEMBRANES IN CULTURE

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1981
SummaryA culture system is described for the long‐term maintenance of human amnion in vitro. This has been developed because of the need for an amnion organ culture to study immunological aspects of this extra‐embryonic membrane as well as the increasing surgical use of amnion in wound healing.

Decellularized human amniotic membrane associated with adipose derived mesenchymal stromal cells as a bioscaffold: Physical, histological and molecular analysis

Biochemical engineering journal, 2019
The human amniotic membrane (hAM) has a great potential as a wound dressing and its combination with mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) represents an alternative therapy for wound healing.

Antifibrotic Effects of Decellularized and Lyophilized Human Amniotic Membrane Transplant on the Formation of Intrauterine Adhesion.

Experimental and Clinical Transplantation, 2019
OBJECTIVES Intrauterine adhesion is a disease involving endometrial fibrosis that arises from injury to the basal layer of the endometrium. Here, we aimed to explore the preventive effects of decellularized and lyophilized amniotic membrane on ...
