On human body dynamics

Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 1976
A full set of governing dynamical equations for Hanavan's human body model are developed. The model consists of ellipsoids, elliptical cylinders, and frustrums of elliptical cones. It contains 34 degrees of freedom. The model is considered to be in an arbitrary force field and the limb motions may be either specified or left free.

Freezing of Human Bodies [PDF]

open access: possibleJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1972
New developments in the field of medical research sometimes go unnoticed and lie dormant for a number of years or are rapidly translated into clinical practice. At times, sound laboratory findings gain popularity outside of medical circles and, mainly through misinterpretation, attempts are made by the layman to translate the findings into practical ...

Bioinspired Janus Textile with Conical Micropores for Human Body Moisture and Thermal Management

Advances in Materials, 2019
Excessive sweat secreted from the skin often causes undesired adhesion from wetted textiles and cold sensations. Traditional hydrophilic textiles such as cotton can absorb sweat but retain it. A hydrophobic/superhydrophilic Janus polyester/nitrocellulose

Radioactivity of the Human Body

1957
Although it is not yet possible to assess the biological role of natural raddoactivity in human life, it is important to determine its magnitude before any substantial change takes place in its level due to acquired radioactivity. Various techniques for measuring natural body radioactivity are reviewed. The low-level activities encountered require that

Energy Harvesting from the Animal/Human Body for Self-Powered Electronics.

Annual Review of Biomedical Engineering, 2017
Living subjects (i.e., humans and animals) have abundant sources of energy in chemical, thermal, and mechanical forms. The use of these energies presents a viable way to overcome the battery capacity limitation that constrains the long-term operation of ...
