Tissue Engineered Human Skin Equivalents

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2012
Human skin not only serves as an important barrier against the penetration of exogenous substances into the body, but also provides a potential avenue for the transport of functional active drugs/reagents/ingredients into the skin (topical delivery) and ...

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Machine-learning models for detection of cellular states of human body using bio-impedance spectroscopy

open access: yesSensing and Bio-Sensing Research
Assessment of cellular states of body is essential to ascertain physical fitness of a human. This paper investigates the cellular states of university students by analyzing body composition features such as body cell mass (BCM), total body water (TBW ...

Evaluation of Resonance Properties of the Human Body Models Situated in the RF Field

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2012
The radio-frequency (RF) electromagnetic field absorption in the human body model is investigated in this article. Absorption of prolate model of the biological body exhibits resonance properties in the case of so called E polarization.

Dynamic thermal models for human body dissipation [PDF]

open access: yesPeriodicum biologorum, 2015
The IR emissivity of human skin is extremly high and measurements of infrared radiation emitted by the skin can be converted directly into accurate temperature value. This process is known as Body IR Thermography. Skin temperature increase associated with increased vascular flow and increased metabolism. In this paper a novel multi-resolution real-time

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
