Cost Efficiency of fMRI Studies Using Resting‐State Vs. Task‐Based Functional Connectivity

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 9, June 15, 2025.
We investigate whether and how we can improve the cost efficiency of neuroimaging studies with well‐tailored fMRI tasks. Our results show that there are unique optimal pairings of task‐based fMRI conditions and neuropsychological outcomes that should not be ignored when designing well‐powered neuroimaging studies.

Correction of Physiological Artifacts in Multi‐Echo fMRI Data—Evaluation of Possible RETROICOR Implementations

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 9, June 15, 2025.
The study evaluates different implementations of the correction of physiological artifacts (RETROICOR) in multi‐echo fMRI data (before or after combination of the echoes) with several acquisition settings. Both implementations of RETROICOR can enhance signal quality, and the benefits are particularly notable in moderately accelerated acquisitions ...
