Transgastric endoscopic peritoneoscopy does not require decontamination of the stomach in humans
Surgical Endoscopy, 2008Natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) is a rapidly evolving field that provides endoscopic access to the peritoneum via a natural orifice. One important requirement of this technique is the need to minimize the risk of clinically significant peritoneal contamination.

New Nonthermal Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Sources for Decontamination of Human Extremities
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2012The research and development of plasma sources, which can be used for therapeutic applications in the new and emerging field of plasma medicine, has gained more and more interest during recent years. These applications require cold nonthermal plasmas operating at atmospheric pressure.

Norfloxacin for selective decontamination: a study in human volunteers.
Progress in clinical and biological research, 1985During five consecutive days three different dosages of 200, 400 and 800 mg norfloxacin were administered to ten healthy males. Cultures of feces and oral washings revealed that even the lowest dose was effective in eliminating gram-negative bacilli from the gi-tract within a reasonable period of time.

Immediate postnatal decontamination as a means of obtaining axenic animals and human infants
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1976A technique not involving surgery is described for obtaining axenic (germ-free) newborn animals and human infants by decontamination immediately after birth. Three steps are involved: cleansing the perineal region of the mother with an iodinated bactericidal solution, washing the newborn with the same solution, and after the newborn has been placed in

The use of a human donor flora for recontamination following antibiotic decontamination.
Progress in food & nutrition science, 1983A method to prevent endogenous infections in patients and laboratory animals with an impaired immune capacity is the total decontamination of the gastrointestinal tract. This is performed by oral administration of nonabsorbable antibiotics. One of the disadvantages of total decontamination is the fact that especially after termination of this treatment
