Catecholaminergic Innervation of the Human Dura Mater Involved in Headache

Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, 1998
The catecholaminergic innervation of cranial dura mater in humans was studied by examining several dural zones (vascular, perivascular, intervascular) in different regions (basal, calvarial, occipital, frontal, tentorial, parietal, temporal). The results demonstrate that catecholaminergic nerve fibers are present in human cranial dura

[Urethroplasty with lyophilized human dura mater].

Archivos espanoles de urologia, 1995
This article reports our experience with lyophilized human dura in the treatment of complex urethral stenosis.Seven patients with iatrogenic/inflammatory urethral stricture underwent a 13 cms long x 1.5 cms wide medial urethral augmentation.During a mean follow-up of 23 months, good results accounted for 85.7%.Lyophilized dura patches constitute a ...

Physical and chemical processing for a human dura mater substitute

Biomaterials, 2002
Allogenic human fascia lata used in neurosurgery, as dura mater substitute, can be associated with a risk of viral and bacterial transmission. Chemical and physical procedures, developed to inactivate virus and bacteria, have been applied to fascia lata. The aim of this study consists in the evaluation of the biological properties of this treated graft.

Ultrastructure of the human spinal arachnoid mater and dura mater.

Journal of anatomy, 1997
Human spinal dura and arachnoid, obtained during neurosurgical operations, were studied by transmission electron microscopy. The ultrastructure of spinal meninges largely conformed to the morphology of the cranial meninges, but some minor differences were detected.

The human dura mater valve. Fabrication methods.

The International journal of artificial organs, 1979
We have used a glycerol-treated human dura mater valve as a valve substitute of the blood pumps for more than 3 years. In comparative studies, it was shown that the dura mater valve is more durable than the glutaraldehyde-treated bovine aortic valves, and thought to be a very attractive valve material.

A new model for dura mater healing: human dural fibroblast culture

Neurological Research, 2013
Dura mater healing is crucial to prevent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks after neurosurgical procedures. Biological mechanisms leading to dural closure are only partially understood and have been studied in animals exclusively. We studied an in vitro model of dural closure which uses human cells. We used human dura intended for disposal after surgery ...

Human Freeze–Dried Dura Mater Allografts as a Periodontal Biological Bandage

Journal of Periodontology, 1989
Freeze–dried dura mater allografts (FDDMA) were used as a biologic bandage covering periodontal osseous defects which were grafted with autogenous bone particles. Seven consenting adult patients having multiple one–, two–, and wide three–wall periodontal osseous defects participated in the study.

Duraplasty with pretreated freeze-dried sterilized human dura mater.

Sbornik vedeckych praci Lekarske fakulty Karlovy university v Hradci Kralove, 1991
Different collagenic tissues, such as allogeneic fascia lata, dura mater and xenogeneic pericardium preserved by deep freezing or freeze-drying and packed in National Blood Service jars have been used with good clinical results in duraplasties performed at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Hospital at Hradec Králové since 1956.
