Biorheology, 1971Shear breakage of human blood cells in saline solution has been studied under conditions of uniform shear, non-penetrating thickeners having been added merely to facilitate application of a sufficiently high stress using a conventional cone and plate apparatus. Cryobiology, 1979Abstract A reexamination of the data of Farrant and Woolgar ( Cryobiology , 9 , 9–15 (1972)) demonstrates that human erythrocytes exhibit osmometric behavior as predicted from the Boyle-Van't Hoff law when suspended in sodium chloride solutions as high as 3.5 osmolal. A Boyle-Van't Hoff plot is linear with r = 0.998.

Allopurinol transport in human erythrocytes
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1993The mechanism of allopurinol [4-hydroxypyrazolo(3,4-d)pyrimidine] transport into human erythrocytes was investigated with an inhibitor stop assay. Allopurinol transport could be resolved into two components: (1) a saturable system and (2) a non-saturable process, which most likely represents non-facilitated diffusion.
