Visual Surveillance for Human Fall Detection in Healthcare IoT
This paper designs a visual surveillance framework for human fall detection. In order to solve the conventional issues in fall detection, such as unsatisfactory feature generalization, low recall rates, and large computational time, we design a model ...

Human fall detection with smartphones
2014 IEEE Latin-America Conference on Communications (LATINCOM), 2014According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), one in three people over the age of 65 are likely to experience a fall. Twenty to thirty percent of these people sustain injuries such as fractures, loss of independence, and even death [1]. Fall detection is an active research area that strives to improve people's lives through the use

Fall-induced injuries are common in the elderly population. Delay or lack of medical care after the occurrence of a fall often results in injuries, sometimes severe, and can also lead to death in some cases. Falls, therefore, are critical occurrences for the elderly.

A hybrid human fall detection scheme
2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010This paper presents a novel video-based human fall detection system that can detect a human fall in real-time with a high detection rate. This fall detection system is based on an ingenious combination of skeleton feature and human shape variation, which can efficiently distinguish “fall-down” activities from “fall-like” ones.

Human fall detection by using the body vector
2017 9th International Conference on Knowledge and Smart Technology (KST), 2017Due to a problem of current research occurring when detecting a human falling in a camera direction, we propose a new method for detecting human fall detection by using body vector technique. This method consists of three steps. Two image sequence is used as the input of the system. Firstly markers are affixed on sixteen joints.

Towards a Template Matching Approach for Human Fall Detection
2021 IEEE 45th Annual Computers, Software, and Applications Conference (COMPSAC), 2021The technology and products related to fall detection has always been in high demand within the security and healthcare industries. A fall detection system must provide a reliable notification mechanism to significantly reduce the risk and medical care costs associated with falls.

Intelligent Human Fall Detection for Home Surveillance
2014 IEEE 11th Intl Conf on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing and 2014 IEEE 11th Intl Conf on Autonomic and Trusted Computing and 2014 IEEE 14th Intl Conf on Scalable Computing and Communications and Its Associated Workshops, 2014We propose in this paper an intelligent system for human fall detection in indoor environments. It can serve as home surveillance for elderly person. Specifically, we detect the human body captured by camera using the Vibe algorithm. Then Gabor feature of a human body is extracted as observation feature.

A smart safety cane for human fall detection
International Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing, 2015Lots of countries have gradually become an aging society, therefore, the safety issues of the elderly attract more and more attentions. Falling is one of the major reasons for the accidental injuries of the elderly, and many times such accidents have become irreparable regrets because of the delayed arrival of the ambulances.

Human Fall Detection Using RFID Technology
2018 9th International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT), 2018Falling is one of the leading health risks to the independent living elder and handicapped people, elder people falling has increased rapidly in past two decades. Previously fall detection methods were based on computer vision. Computer vision based human fall detection is one of the advice, but unsuccessfully such results demand high computational ...
