The relationship between paediatric foot posture and body mass index: do heavier children really have flatter feet?

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, 2015
Background Several studies have found positive correlation between flatfeet and increased body mass in children. One study, utilizing a differing method of foot posture assessment, found the inverse.

Smartphone Authentication System Using Personal Gaits and a Deep Learning Model

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In a society centered on hyper-connectivity, information sharing is crucial, but it must be ensured that each piece of information is viewed only by legitimate users; for this purpose, the medium that connects information and users must be able to ...

Comparison of Laboratory and Daily-Life Gait Speed Assessment during ON and OFF States in Parkinson’s Disease

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Accurate assessment of Parkinson’s disease (PD) ON and OFF states in the usual environment is essential for tailoring optimal treatments. Wearables facilitate measurements of gait in novel and unsupervised environments; however, differences between ...

Determinants in human gait recognition

open access: yes2012 25th IEEE Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2012
Human gait is a complex phenomenon involving the motion of various parts of the body simultaneously in 3 dimensional space. The dynamics of different parts of the body translate the center of gravity from one point to another in the most energy efficient way.

Masking the motions of human gait [PDF]

open access: yesPerception & Psychophysics, 1988
In three experiments we tried to mask the motions of human gait. We represented human walkers as a set of 11 computer-generated elements on a display monitor, moving as a nested hierarchy of motions that mimicked the motions of the head and major joints. The walker was seen in sagittal view, facing either right or left and walking as if on a treadmill.

Wearable Feet Pressure Sensor for Human Gait and Falling Diagnosis

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Human falls pose a serious threat to the person’s health, especially for the elderly and disease-impacted people. Early detection of involuntary human gait change can indicate a forthcoming fall.

Automated human recognition by gait using neural network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We describe a new method for recognizing humans by their gait using back-propagation neural network. Here, the gait motion is described as rhythmic and periodic motion, and a 2D stick figure is extracted from gait silhouette by motion information with ...

A Novel Criticality Analysis Method for Assessing Obesity Treatment Efficacy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Human gait is a significant indicator of overall health and well-being due to its dependence on metabolic requirements. Abnormalities in gait can indicate the presence of metabolic dysfunction, such as diabetes or obesity. However, detecting these can be
