Prevalence of human herpesviruses in biliary fluid and their association with biliary complications after liver transplantation

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2019
Background Beta-herpesviruses are common opportunistic pathogens that cause morbidity after liver transplantation (LT). Methods Objective of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and correlation of herpesviruses in bile, blood and liver tissue and to ...

Microsatellite instability in chicken lymphoma induced by gallid herpesvirus 2. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Microsatellite instability (MSI) has been found in a range of human tumors, and little is known of the links between MSI and herpesvirus. In order to investigate the relationship between MSI and Gallid herpesvirus 2 (GaHV-2)-induced lymphoma, fifteen ...

Movement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.

Regulation of Viral Infection in Diabetes

open access: yesBiology, 2021
Though there is no ‘Diabetes Virus’, multiple agents such as mumps virus, rubella virus, influenza virus, type A hepatitis virus, enterovirus, rotavirus, cytomegalovirus, varicella-zoster virus, human herpesvirus 6, Epstein-Barr virus, and also SARS-CoV ...

Human Herpesvirus 6 Immediate‐Early 2 Protein Interacts with Heterogeneous Ribonucleoprotein K and Casein Kinase 2 [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, 2004
AbstractHuman herpesvirus 6 (HHV‐6) immediate‐early (IE) 2 protein (IE2) may play important but incompletely defined roles during infection. We used yeast two‐hybrid screening to detect proteins interacting with HHV‐6 IE2, and found heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (hnRNP K) and the beta subunit of casein kinase 2 (CK2β) specifically ...

Machine‐Learning Microfluidic Minute‐Scale Microorganism Metrics Monitoring(M6)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On‐site monitoring of microorganisms remains challenging because of low concentrations, strong background interference, and dynamic aerosol diffusion, particularly for aerosol‐transmitted pathogens. Here, we report a rapid detection platform that integrates a Puri‐focusing microfluidic chip, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and ...

Disturbances of mitochondrial dynamics in cultured neurons infected with human herpesvirus type 1 and type 2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of NeuroVirology, 2019
Human herpesvirus types 1 and 2 (HHV-1 and HHV-2) are neurotropic viruses which remain latent for life and reactivate to cause recurrent infections. HHV-1 has been found to be involved in accumulation of β-amyloid, hyperphosphorylation of tau proteins, and inflammation in the brain, which can later result in neuronal dysfunction and neurodegeneration ...

The Host Cell Factor Phosphatase‐2A Subunit PR130 Restricts Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular, genetic, virological, and biochemical analysis in combination with global proteome and phosphoproteome profiling and functional assays were applied to study the role of PR130 in the context of HSV‐1 replication. The observations reveal that host‐intrinsic mechanisms regulate HSV‐1 replication and highlight PR130 as a susceptibility factor of

Usefulness of Herpes Consensus PCR methodology to routine diagnostic testing for herpesviruses infections in clinical specimens

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2007
The purposes of the study were to assess the usefulness of simultaneously amplifying herpes simplex virus 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus and human herpesvirus 6 DNA in various clinical specimens and to analyze ...
