A Comprehensive Analysis of HIV Treatment Efficacy in the ACTG 175 Trial Through Multiple-Endpoint Approaches [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In the realm of medical research, the intricate interplay of epidemiological risk, genomic activity, adverse events, and clinical response necessitates a nuanced consideration of multiple variables. Clinical trials, designed to meticulously assess the efficacy and safety of interventions, routinely incorporate a diverse array of endpoints.

Role of HIV RNA structure in recombination and speciation: romping in purine A, keeps HTLV away [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobes and Infection (2014) 16, 96-103, 2013
Extreme enrichment of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) RNA genome for the purine A parallels the mild purine-loading of the RNAs of most organisms. This should militate against loop-loop "kissing" interactions between the structured viral genome and structured host RNAs, which can generate segments of double-stranded RNA sufficient to trigger ...

An Agrin–YAP/TAZ Rigidity Sensing Module Drives EGFR‐Addicted Lung Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study identifies agrin‐EGFR mechanotransduction as a critical driver of lung adenocarcinoma which enhances EGFR signaling through an integrin‐FAK‐actomyosin dependent positive feedback on YAP/TAZ ‐TEAD in response to matrix stiffness. Targeting this oncogenic loop through combinatorial treatments inhibits lung cancer due to agrin impairment.

Edaravone Administered Orally and Via Nasogastric Tube in Healthy Adults: A Comparative Bioavailability Phase 1 Study

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology in Drug Development, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 77-84, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Intravenous edaravone is used to treat patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This randomized, open‐label, two‐way crossover, single‐dose phase 1 study compared the relative bioavailability of a newly developed edaravone oral suspension when administered orally and via a nasogastric tube (NGT) as a model of percutaneous endoscopic ...

Nuclear Translocation of S100A9 Triggers Senescence of Human Amnion Fibroblasts by De‐Repressing LINE1 Via Heterochromatin Erosion at Parturition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that the classical secretory protein S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100A9) can translocate to the nucleus upon de‐phosphorylation at Thr 113 in human amnion fibroblasts at parturition, where S100A9 induces heterochromatin erosion through segregation of the heterochromatin maintenance protein, resulting inLong Interspersed Nuclear ...

Immune restoration in human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus coinfected patients after highly active antiretroviral therapy

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of hepatitis C virus on immunological and virological responses after highly active antiretroviral therapy initiation in human immunodeficiency virus/hepatitis C virus coinfected patients compared to monoinfected ...

Two-dimensional stability analysis in a HIV model with quadratic logistic growth term [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We consider a Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) model with a logistic growth term and continue the analysis of the previous article [6]. We now take the viral diffusion in a two-dimensional environment. The model consists of two ODEs for the concentrations of the target T cells, the infected cells, and a parabolic PDE for the virus particles. We study

Epidemiological Synergy: Interrelationships between Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection and Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases

open access: yesSexually Transmitted Diseases, 1992
&NA; Understanding the role of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the role of STDs in progression of HIV disease, and the role of HIV infection in alterations of natural history ...

Enhancer Extrachromosomal Circular DNA ANKRD28 Elicits Drug Resistance via POU2F2‐Mediated Transcriptional Network in Multiple Myeloma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Enhancer eccANKRD28‐manipulated MM cells have been demonstrated to facilitate drug resistance and promote MM progression by activating the key transcription factor, POU2F2. POU2F2 interacts with sequence‐specific eccANKRD28 as well as RUNX1 and RUNX2 motifs to form the protein complex, which activates the promoter of oncogenes (IRF4, JUNB, IKZF3, et al.

Candida species detection in patients with chronic periodontitis: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1354-1375, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives To assess the Candida species occurrence rate and concentration in periodontal pockets in chronic periodontitis (CP) by meta‐analysis. Materials and Methods A search was performed of articles published between January 1, 2010, and October 1, 2020, in English and in Russian, in the electronic databases MEDLINE‐PubMed, Google Scholar,
