Advances in Human Leukocyte Antigens and Transplantation
1993Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the advances made in human leukocyte antigens and transplantation. The transplantation of skin from one part of the body to another are performed since ancient times, not only in the repair of injuries caused by warfare but also to make good mutilations imposed as punishments for infidelity, thievery, and other ...

Profiling of human leukocyte antigens in Eales‘ disease
International Ophthalmology, 1997Eales' disease is a primary retinal perivasculitis of an undetermined etiology seen predominantly in the Indian subcontinent and rarely in the West. Strong HLA association has been proven in retinal vasculitis of Behcet's disease. HLA association of Eales' disease is unknown and therefore the present study was undertaken to determine the same.

Transplants across human leukocyte antigen barriers
Seminars in Hematology, 2002Clinical experience with full haplotype-mismatched stem cell transplants has a 20-year history. Early results in leukemia patients were disappointing because of a high incidence of severe graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in T-replete transplants or high rejection rates in T-cell-depleted transplants.

Flow cytometry in human leukocyte antigen testing
Seminars in Hematology, 2001Stem cell transplantation is a recognized treatment for many hematologic malignancies. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) testing is a key assessment in the evaluation of potential recipients and selection of the appropriate stem cell donor. Over the past several years, technological advances have moved HLA testing from a serologic art form to a ...
