Naturally Occurring Flavonoids Against Human Norovirus Surrogates

Food and Environmental Virology, 2013
Naturally occurring plant-derived flavonoids are reported to have antibacterial, antiviral, and pharmacological activities. The objectives of this study were to determine the antiviral effects of four flavonoids (myricetin, L-epicatechin, tangeretin, and naringenin) on the infectivity of food borne norovirus surrogates after 2 h at 37 °C.

Thermal Inactivation of Human Norovirus Surrogates

Food and Environmental Virology, 2011
We investigated the thermal inactivation profiles of murine norovirus (MNV), Hepatitis A virus (HAV), and feline calicivirus (FCV), which are surrogates for the study of human noroviruses. Thermal inactivation of MNV and FCV were evaluated at 37, 50, and 60°C and HAV at 37, 50, 60, and 70°C. All viral surrogates were relatively stable at 37°C.

A non-human primate model for human norovirus infection

Nature Microbiology
Norovirus infection can cause gastrointestinal disease in humans. Development of therapies and vaccines against norovirus have been limited by the lack of a suitable and reliable animal model. Here we established rhesus macaques as an animal model for human norovirus infection.

MULTISCALE MODELING OF NOROVIRUS IN HUMANS

Journal of Biological Systems
Noroviruses are highly contagious and the leading cause of sporadic and epidemic gastroenteritis, food poisoning, and community-acquired diarrhea across all age groups. Traditional models of foodborne infections often focus on transmission mechanisms at the macroscale, emphasizing transmission as the primary cause of disease spread. Given the high risk
