AI‐Enhanced Gait Analysis Insole with Self‐Powered Triboelectric Sensors for Flatfoot Condition Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
The given research presents an innovative insole‐based device employing self‐powered triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) for flatfoot detection. By integrating TENG tactile sensors within an insole, the device converts mechanical energy from foot movements to electrical signals analyzed via machine learning, achieving an 82% accuracy rate in flatfoot ...

LLMs Reproduce Stereotypes of Sexual and Gender Minorities [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
A large body of research has found substantial gender bias in NLP systems. Most of this research takes a binary, essentialist view of gender: limiting its variation to the categories _men_ and _women_, conflating gender with sex, and ignoring different sexual identities. But gender and sexuality exist on a spectrum, so in this paper we study the biases

Intelligent Eye Tracker Integrated with Cylindrical Capacitive Sensors for Chronic Fatigue Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A wearable capacitive eye tracker for chronic fatigue assessment is presented, utilizing cylindrically shaped capacitive sensors made of a carbon nanotube‐paper composite. By integrating a novel fatigue‐induction protocol with machine learning, the device achieves 0.75‐sensitivity and 0.73‐specificity, providing a practical alternative to existing ...

Immune Checkpoint PD‐L1 Modulates Retinal Microglial Activation to Alleviate Vascular Leakage in Choroidal Neovascularization via ERK

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PD‐L1 limits neuroinflammation in neovascular AMD by modulating microglial activation. Its deficiency exacerbates vascular leakage and choroidal neovascularization (CNV) via ERK signaling, while enhancing PD‐L1 reduces inflammation and neovascularization. Targeting PD‐L1 may offer a novel immunomodulatory strategy for NVAMD.

HPV and cervical cancer in Moldova, epidemiological model with intervention cost vs benefit and effectiveness analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Human papillomavirus, or HPV, is a sexually transmittable virus infection, which is necessary risk factor for developing cervical cancer, first most common type of cancer in working age women in Moldova. We observe both behavioral change (sexuality increase) and demographical change (population ageing).
