Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Disinhibition in the Human Visual System*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1962
By the method of binocular photometry, the present experiment has demonstrated that it is possible to reduce the magnitude of simultaneous brightness contrast through an increase in the number of inducing targets presented to an observer. This demonstration is thought to be important for two reasons: (1) it is a perceptual analog of the indirect ...

Electrophysiology of the human visual system

Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 1983
Abstract Progress during the last 60 years has revealed numerous electrical signals arising from many parts of the visual system. These now play an essential part in the detection of many pathological conditions.

Thresholds of Vision of the Human Visual System: Visual Adaptation for Monocular and Binocular Vision

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems, 2015
Thresholds of vision under low-light conditions have been studied for determining the human response to light stimuli in different contexts. Blackwell's work on thresholds of vision of the human visual system did not explore some variables whose analysis
