Pediatric Supracondylar Humerus Fractures
Hand Clinics, 2006Pediatric supracondylar humerus fracture can occur in children and young teenagers; however, it is an injury seen most commonly between ages 5 and 8 years. Injuries tot he left arm are more common than to the right. Girls are affected as frequently as boys.

Elbow Fractures: Distal Humerus
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2009A distal humerus fracture can be a debilitating and difficult injury to treat. The anatomy of the distal humerus is highly complex, as it articulates with both the radius and ulna and allows for motion in multiple planes. Furthermore, comminution and osteopenia may render the metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction weak, making adequate stabilization difficult.

The use of humeral fracture braces has become our preferred method of treatment for fractures of the shaft of the humerus. These braces are easy to apply and adjust; the patient's acceptance of this method of treatment is high. We compared this method of treatment with the traditional method of plaster U-slab immobilization. A group of patients treated

Paediatric supracondylar humerus fractures
British Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2019This article gives a practical guide to the management of supracondylar fractures of the humerus in paediatric patients, from initial presentation to definitive treatment. It reviews the optimal management of this common and serious injury based on current evidence including the British Orthopaedic Association Standards for Trauma (BOAST) 11 standard.

The treatment of humeral fractures in ruminants remains a challenge to the large animal surgeon. Often the recommendation is to euthanize the animal. This article reviews four different treatment techniques: stall confinement, intramedullary pinning, interlocking nails, and plate fixation.

A single or double bar, type I, unilateral external fixator can be used as primary or ancillary treatment for repair of many humeral fractures. Treatment of contaminated and comminuted fractures with external skeletal fixation provides rotational stability and axial alignment, access for wound management and bone grafting, and avoidance of vascular ...

The purpose of this paper is to present some of the problems and treatment of fractures of the humerus which frequently confront the general practitioner, physician and surgeon in everyday life. Nobody should fail to evaluate carefully, by physical and roentgenologic examination, the location and extent of the fracture, as well as the degree of injury ...

Proximal humerus fractures: editorial
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 2017Proximal humerus fractures are characterized by their frequency, the difficulties and the absence of treatment of reference. New means of osteosynthesis appeared since the years 2000, as well as the preferential recourse to the reversed prostheses of shoulder. A chapter is dedicated to classifications, as a whole not very reproducible.

Humeral fractures are the least common long bone fracture in small animals. The low incidence of these fractures combined with the unique anatomy of the humerus makes repair of humeral fractures challenging. This chapter provides a review of humeral fracture management.

Proximal humerus fractures are relatively rare and represent 4–5% of all upper extremity fractures. Younger patients with a high-velocity mechanism of injury and older patients with a low-velocity mechanism of injury make up the patient population.
