A Chipless Humidity Sensor for Wearable Applications
2019 IEEE International Conference on RFID Technology and Applications (RFID-TA), 2019This paper presents a fully-textile chipless tag to be used as a humidity sensor. The proposed tag consists of $a50 \Omega$ microstrip line loaded by multiple resonators. The basic idea is to exploit the hygroscopic properties of textile materials, and in particular the variation of the relative permittivity of the textile substrate due to variation of

A highly sensitive humidity sensor with low-temperature sensitivity is proposed and demonstrated using a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coating tapered fiber. The taper fiber is highly sensitive to the environmental medium due to its microscale diameter.

Humidity sensor technologies amenable to widespread application in electronic control systems are reviewed. The principal sensor groups of interest include resistive ceramics, dielectric polymers, and resistive polyelectrolytes. The physical mechanisms and application trade‐offs for each group are considered.

Monitoring of humidity is a widespread application for process control, lifetime assessment of components and assemblies, environmental control systems, medical textiles, working clothes and personal safety systems. To allow spatially resolved mapping of this parameter over a larger textile surface, discrete sensor elements are presently placed ...

Fiber-optic sensor for humidity
Optics Letters, 1989A novel fiber-optic humidity sensor is described. It is based on reversible sorption of water from the ambient atmosphere in a porous thin-film interferometer that sits on the tip of a fiber. The sorbed water changes the refractive index of the thin films and thus the reflectivity of the interferometer; the resulting modulation of the reflected ...

Investigation of conductometric humidity sensors
Talanta, 1997Sensors for determining humidity in air have been described and investigated. Sensing film of the devices was prepared from polyvinylalcohol and graphitized carbon black disperse phase. The composition, thermal treatment and design of sensing films were investigated and optimized.
