Traceability of Agri‐Food Products: The Key to Conscious Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Globalization and growing concerns about sustainability have led to improvements in product traceability, quality, and sustainability. Traceability contributes to environmental protection and supports sustainable development by fostering transparency in agricultural practices and encouraging the responsible use of resources.

Counterintuitive Photochemistry of an Isolated Acridinyl Radical: ConPET via Preassembly, Solvated Electrons or a Long‐Lived Excited State?

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In this paper, we isolate the reduced form of a commonly used acridinium photocatalyst (acridinyl, Acr•) and investigate its photochemistry using transient absorption, analysed alongside TD‐DFT calculations. We show that despite the apparent long lifetime of the fluorescent state of Acr•, it is not relevant to reactivity.

Enhancing Sustainability Label Effectiveness Through Logo Design Modification: An Analysis of the EU Green Leaf Logo

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainability labels can help support consumers select more socially and environmentally friendly options, thereby enhancing returns for conscientious producers and promoting the transition to a more sustainable food system. However, consumer confusion regarding labels' meaning undermines their effectiveness.

Bicyclic Selenenyl Sulfides with Tuned Bioreductive Step Rates Reveal Constraints for Probes Targeting Thioredoxin Reductase

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Thiol reductants activate dichalcogenide probes by a cascade of partly reversible steps. Careful dichalcogenide engineering can tune the rates of these steps separately, to aim at probes that are kinetically selective for specific oxidoreductases in live cells.

Hi‐LabSpermTracking: A Novel and High‐Quality Sperm Tracking Dataset with an Advanced Ensemble Detection and Tracking Approach for Real‐World Clinical Scenarios

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents Hi‐LabSpermTracking, a long‐duration, expert‐annotated sperm motility dataset for detection and tracking. It evaluates You Only Look Once version 8, Real‐Time Detection Transformer, and Simple Online and Realtime Tracking with a Deep Association Metric in three scenarios. The mean ensemble method improves tracking performance. Sperm

Harnessing halophyte‐derived allelochemicals and signaling molecules to enhance salinity tolerance in crops

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Soil salinization is a growing global challenge that significantly reduces agricultural productivity by impairing seed germination, growth, and yield. While conventional crops have limited tolerance to high salinity, halophytes are promising biological models for developing strategies to sustain agriculture in saline environments and ...
