Are Highly-Ionized HVCs a Galactic Phenomenon?
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009Highly‐ionized high‐velocity clouds have been studied for the last decade. Some lines of reasoning have suggested an extragalactic origin for these clouds, placing them near the outskirts of the Milky Way or Local Group, and some models have explored the possibility that they may be associated with dark matter minihalos. We have observed highly‐ionized

HVC: A Hybrid Cloud Computing Framework in Vehicular Environments
2017 5th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Cloud Computing, Services, and Engineering (MobileCloud), 2017As increasingly more applications are deployed in vehicles, how to provide the demanded computational capability becomes crucial. This paper proposes the hybrid vehicular cloud (HVC) framework for cloud computing on the road to increase the computational capability of vehicles by using resources from the centralized cloud, RSU, and neighboring vehicles.

The Large- and Small-scale Structure of HVCs
2004The main question addressed in this chapter is whether or not HVCs have small-scale structure that di ers from that in low-velocity gas and the IVCs. If so, this could make it possible to distinguish HVCs from galactic gas not only by their deviating velocities, but also by their structural characteristics. Further, the physical characteristics derived

Contribution of spike timing to the information transmitted by HVC neurons
European Journal of Neuroscience, 2006AbstractIn many species, neurons with highly selective stimulus‐response properties characterize higher order sensory areas and/or sensory motor areas of the CNS. In the songbird nuclei, the responses of HVC (used as a proper name) neurons during playback of the bird's own song (BOS) are probably one of the most striking examples of selectivity for ...

HVCS Related to the Magellanic System
2004This chapter provides a review of the observational and theoretical results on the HVCs known to have originated from the interaction of the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds with each other and the Milky Way. The neutral hydrogen observations of the Magellanic Bridge, Magellanic Stream, and Leading Arm are summarized and related to the optical and ...

Electrophysiological Characteristics of Classes of Neuron in the HVc of the Zebra Finch
Journal of Neurophysiology, 1998Kubota, Michinori and Ikuo Taniguchi. Electrophysiological characteristics of classes of neuron in the HVc of the zebra finch. J. Neurophysiol. 80: 914–923, 1998. Whole cell recordings were made from zebra finch HVc neurons in slice preparations. Four distinct classes of neuron were found on the basis of their electrophysiological properties.

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied to detect HCV-RNA in 75 hemodialyzed patients. Anti-HCV status was determined by ELISA-2 and by RIBA-2 for reactive samples by ELISA. ALT levels were monthly determined during the year preceding the end of the study.

Ionized Gas Associated with HVCs
2004The study of emission lines from HVCs is yielding new information on their basic properties as well as on the properties of their environment. Such studies are also providing new insights into the location, origin, and role in the Galaxy of the HVCs. Very sensitive velocity-resolved measurements of Hα now exist for many HVCs, including the Magellanic ...

The Ca+ abundance of HVC complex C
Astronomy & Astrophysics, 1996We report the first detection of Ca II H and K absorption in the high-velocity cloud complex C, the largest HVC. Absorption is detected in the spectra of the quasar PG 1351+640 and of the Seyfert galaxy Mark 290, at velocities of -163 and -137 km/s (set: Fig. 2).

[Darunavir in HIV/HVC/HVB coinfection].
Enfermedades infecciosas y microbiologia clinica, 2009Darunavir/ritonavir is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in pre-treated adult patients. In hepatitis B or C co-infected patients, the virological response rate to darunavir/ritonavir appeared to be unaffected and, except for increased liver enzymes, the incidence of adverse events was not ...
