Modeling of pressure effects in HVDC cables

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1999
A model is developed for the prediction of pressure effects in HVDC mass impregnated cables as a result of temperature changes. To test the model assumptions, experiments were performed in cable like geometries. It is concluded that the model may predict the formation of gas cavities.

Calculation of Electric Field in HVDC Cable

2019 6th International Conference on Information Science and Control Engineering (ICISCE), 2019
Dependences of conductivity on temperature and electric field make electric field in high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable more complicated. Model of electric field and temperature field in HVDC cable is presented. Numerical and analytical methods of calculating electric field in HVDC cable with common used conductivity expressions of insulation are

Energy Storage by using HVDC Power Cables

2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2018
The development of HVDC (high voltage direct current) systems closely follow the growth of global energy requirements. In particular, HVDC cables are conveniently used for the interconnection of geographical areas which need a low environmental impact and/or when submarines interconnections have to be built up.

Electric fields in HVDC paper-insulated cables

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1998
HVDC cables start playing a more and more important role in interconnecting national grids. This paper deals with the calculation of electric fields in HVDC cables. The calculation of fields in an HVDC cable is far more complex than the equivalent case in HV ac cables. This is due to the fact that the conductivity of the cable insulation is temperature

HVDC cable design logic for digital computers

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1992
A computer program to achieve complete cable designs is under development, and the principal logic elements and equations being used are presented. The design of high-voltage, direct-current transmission cables insulated with oil-impregnated cellulose paper is constrained by the maximum temperature and the maximum steady-state and transient stresses ...
