Modeling of pressure effects in HVDC cables

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1999
A model is developed for the prediction of pressure effects in HVDC mass impregnated cables as a result of temperature changes. To test the model assumptions, experiments were performed in cable like geometries. It is concluded that the model may predict the formation of gas cavities.

Calculation of Electric Field in HVDC Cable

2019 6th International Conference on Information Science and Control Engineering (ICISCE), 2019
Dependences of conductivity on temperature and electric field make electric field in high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable more complicated. Model of electric field and temperature field in HVDC cable is presented. Numerical and analytical methods of calculating electric field in HVDC cable with common used conductivity expressions of insulation are

Modern Noise Rejection Methods and their Applicability in Partial Discharge Measurements on HVDC Cables

IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application, 2018
With an increasing amount of HVDC transmission lines in operation, the length of installed polymer insulated HVDC cable is rapidly growing. While clean production processes and routine testing provide defect free cable segments, the reliability of the ...

Energy Storage by using HVDC Power Cables

2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2018
The development of HVDC (high voltage direct current) systems closely follow the growth of global energy requirements. In particular, HVDC cables are conveniently used for the interconnection of geographical areas which need a low environmental impact and/or when submarines interconnections have to be built up.

A Finite Element Method Based Approach for Modeling of Partial Discharges in HVDC Cables

Electrical Insulation Conference, 2018
Occurrence of partial discharges (PD) is a critical phenomenon preceding an impending insulation failure in HVDC cables. Modeling of PD due to deformations in the insulation is a vital step towards the development of a reliable monitoring tool to assess ...

Electric fields in HVDC paper-insulated cables

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1998
HVDC cables start playing a more and more important role in interconnecting national grids. This paper deals with the calculation of electric fields in HVDC cables. The calculation of fields in an HVDC cable is far more complex than the equivalent case in HV ac cables. This is due to the fact that the conductivity of the cable insulation is temperature
