Stability and Synchronization of MMC‐HVDC Systems Using SRF and Inertia‐Based PLLs

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study investigates the influence of synchronous reference frame PLL (SRF‐PLL) and the inertia PLL (IPLL) on the stability of grid‐connected modular multilevel converter high voltage direct current (MMC‐HVDC) systems. The findings highlight intrinsic stability limitations of PLL‐based systems, offering insights toward more stable, PLL‐less ...

Equivalent Test Method for Fault Ride‐Through of Integrated Energy‐consuming MMC Modules

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes an equivalent assessment index covering the entire fault ride‐through process, taking the integrated energy‐consuming MMC valve as the research object, and solves the problem of the lack of assessment index for the fault ride‐through equivalent test.

Distributed Voltage and Current Control of Multi-Terminal High-Voltage Direct Current Transmission Systems

open access: yes, 2014
High-voltage direct current (HVDC) is a commonly used technology for long-distance power transmission, due to its low resistive losses and low costs. In this paper, a novel distributed controller for multi-terminal HVDC (MTDC) systems is proposed.

A Novel Coordinated Control Strategy for VSG to Enhance Power Tracking Speed Without Degrading Inertia Support Capability

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT The virtual synchronous generator (VSG), as a representative grid‐forming control method, has become a key technology in distributed renewable energy systems. However, there exists an inherent trade‐off between fast power reference tracking and high virtual inertia support in conventional VSG control.

Accurate Harmonic Voltage Measurement Based on Series Resistive‐Capacitive Divider for Gas‐Insulated Switchgear

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
A series resistive‐capacitive divider for harmonic voltage measurement of gas‐insulated switchgear was studied. It can step down the voltage while amplifying the proportion of harmonics in the total sensed voltage, thereby increasing the significant figure for the measurement and enabling the accurate measurement of high‐order, low‐amplitude harmonics.
