800-kV HVDC transmission systems
2008 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition, 2008The panelist will discuss the recent developments responsible for the planning, design and implementation of plusmn 800 kV HVDC transmission systems. The focus of the presentation will be overhead HVDC transmission lines. Following a brief review of the research and testing that has been carried out so far for the electrical design of HVDC lines, the ...

Digital dynamic simulation of HVDC transmission systems
Proceedings of MELECON '94. Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference, 2002The planning, design and operation of HVDC transmission systems requires the detailed study of various options and prediction of the system performance. HVDC transmission systems described by nonlinear models are not tractable for analytical approaches. Here, the tableau approach is the method that is used for the analysis of HVDC transmission systems.

High-pulse series converters for HVDC systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2001In this work a novel concept has been developed, whereby series-connected converters with any desired number of pulses can be obtained without complicated circuitry. A complete theoretical treatment and experimental verification are carried out in this paper to fully validate the concept.

Small-signal dynamic modeling of HVDC systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2002This paper details the development of a linear continuous-time state model of the small-signal dynamics of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system. The dynamics in the frequency range between 2 and 200 Hz on the DC side are of interest for the identification of possible stability problems and the design of the fastest level of ...

Monitoring HVDC systems using wavelet multi-resolution analysis
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2001The paper presents a disturbance classification technique based on wavelet multi-resolution analysis. The wavelet multi-resolution transform is introduced as a tool for providing discriminative, translation-invariant features with small dimensions to classify different disturbances in an HVDC transmission system.
