Pregled nedavnih mjerenja mikroseizmničkoga nemira u Hrvatskoj na otvorenom terenu i u zgradama [PDF]
The paper describes some recent applications of the measurements of ambient vibrations (microseismic noise) in Croatia. They include free-field measurements, as well as those done within buildings. Data obtained in the field at the studied localities are

Evaluating Seismic Ambient Noise Techniques for Detecting Ice‐Bearing Rocks on the Moon
Abstract One of the primary objectives of upcoming lunar missions is to locate ice‐bearing rocks at the South Pole. While evidence for their presence exists, the exact distribution and quantity remain uncertain. In this study, we evaluate the potential of seismic ambient noise techniques—including seismic interferometry, H/V spectral ratios ...

We address two open questions concerning nonlinear soil behavior in a seismic hazard and risk context; (1) which site proxies can be used to predict and map nonlinear site amplification? (2) At which level of ground‐motion intensity should such nonlinear models be considered?

Site characterization of Sikkim Himalaya using HVSR
The northeastern state of Sikkim lying in central segment of the Himalayan orogen is a seismically active region which was plagued by the recent 2011 Mw6.9 earthquake. Analysis of local earthquakes recorded at the recently deployed seismic network of 27

Local site effects evaluation for Aliağa/İzmir using HVSR (Nakamura technique) and MASW methods
The site effect plays very important role for planning design of structures and estimating seismic damage of existing structures, especially in seismicity active regions. Aliaga, located in the northern region of the Izmir City, is high seismically active region in western Turkey. We identified the dynamic properties of shallow soil for Aliaga district

Abstract Degradation within a manmade earth embankment structure is often unobservable from the surface. In order to evaluate the structural integrity of earth embankment levees and dams and identify subsurface zones of weakness that may result in the future failures of such structures, various geophysical methods have been proposed as effective ...

Abstract Santorini volcano has a history of caldera‐forming eruptions, most recently in the Late Bronze Age, at 3.4 kya, and remains volcanically active. The Kolumbo submarine volcano, located 7 km to the northeast of Santorini, erupted in 1650 AD in a deadly phreatomagmatic eruption.

Sediment Thickness Estimation in Serpong Experimental Power Reactor Site Using HVSR Method
A study about sediment thickness mapping was conducted in Serpong Experimental Power Reactor Site. This reactor is planned to be built in a high seismic activity area. Sediment thickness is one of many factors that could affect the site response. A high sediment deposit could amplify and prolong the earthquake waves.

Abstract As global warming continues, the Earth's cryosphere is experiencing severe degradation. This study leverages a novel combination of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) and artificial intelligence to monitor and decipher cryospheric dynamics. We have developed an advanced time‐lapse surface wave analysis workflow to capture shear wave velocity ...
