A new species, Centaurea baghmalekensis Negaresh (Asteraceae) in C. sect. Microlophus (Cass.) DC., is described and illustrated from the Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran. The new species is morphologically most similar to Centaurea pabotii Wagenitz, a recently described species from the Khuzestan Province.

Calcium is shown to have several roles in the adhesion of embryonic sea urchin cells. Using an assay that subdivides a cell interaction into sequential steps it is shown that Ca2+ has distinct roles in at least two separate steps.

Abstract Background Oral non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used for analgesia in dogs with spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects (SCCEDs). Topical NSAIDs can delay epithelialisation and promote stromal melting, but the safety of systemic NSAIDs in SCCEDs is unknown.
