Extracellular Hyaline Material in Association with Other Cytologic Features in Aspirates from Collagenous Spherulosis and Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Breast

Acta Cytologica, 2003
To reevaluate breast aspirates showing extracellular hyaline material (EHM) and globules to assess if clinicoradiologic and cytologic features could help in differentiating between benign and malignant lesions, especially collagenous spherulosis (CS) and adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC).Fine needle aspiration was performed on 884 patients with breast ...

Accumulated basement membrane material in hyalinizing trabecular tumors of the thyroid.

Modern pathology : an official journal of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, Inc, 1999
We report here four additional cases of hyalinizing trabecular adenoma of the thyroid and describe the findings of the accumulated basement membrane (BM) material. Focal lumpy depositions of BM material were noted in the stroma of all four tumors and were particularly prominent in two.

Abnormal intracellular and extracellular distribution of basement membrane material in papillary carcinoma and hyalinizing trabecular tumors of the thyroid: Implication for deregulation of secretory pathways

Human Pathology, 1997
Papillary carcinoma (PC) and hyalinizing trabecular tumors (HTT) of the thyroid share several morphological features, including the presence of nuclear pseudoinclusions (NPI). One of the distinct characteristics of HTT is its hyalinizing stroma, which contains abundant basement membrane (BM) material.

Massive Cutaneous Hyalinosis: Identification of the Hyalin Material as Monoclonal Kappa Light Chains, Adhesive 90 kD Glycoprotein, and Type I Collagen

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1984
The hyalin material in massive cutaneous hyalinosis, a disease characterized by extensive tumorous periodic acid-Schiff-(PAS) positive extracellular cutaneous deposits, has been elucidated by biochemical and immunologic methods. Three major components were found: kappa light chains, a mannose-rich glycoprotein, and type I collagen.

The histochemical and ultrastructural characterization of hyaline material in the endometrium of mice fed diethylstilbestrol.

Journal of environmental pathology, toxicology and oncology : official organ of the International Society for Environmental Toxicology and Cancer, 1987
Histochemistry and electron microscopy were used to examine hyaline material within the endometrium of mice continuously fed diethylstilbestrol (DES). Virgin female mice were fed diets containing 0, 320 or 640 ppb DES from 4 weeks of age. All animals reported on in this study were sacrificed when moribund and ranged from 622 to 762 days of age ...

The in vitro influence of different culture conditions on the potential of sheep rib perichondrium to form hyaline-like cartilage

Virchows Archiv, 1994
The effectiveness of autologous rib perichondrium for repair of full-thickness hyaline cartilage defects has been shown experimentally and clinically in various reports. The purpose of this study was to examine the behaviour of sheep rib perichondrial tissue under in vitro conditions and the influence of different culture matrices in order to evaluate ...
