Hyalomma lusitanicum tick is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, widely distributed in areas of the Mediterranean basin, and is also present in the Macaronesia region. It is adapted to the semi-arid steppe and dry hot summer climate of meso-Mediterranean ecosystems, where it displays a high tolerance to desiccation. H.

Nucleic Acid Levels in the Developing Ovaries of Hyalomma (Hyalomma) dromedarii (Acari: Ixodidae)

Protein and nucleic acid levels from the ovaries of Hyalomma dromedarii Koch were determined during different stages of oogenesis. The concentrations of total protein, DNA, and RNA increased during oogenesis, reflecting the rapid developmental changes taking place in this tissue.

The diagnostic characters of larval, nymphal and adult Hyalomma aegyptium (L., 1758) based on specimens from the territory of most part of the area are given. In the diagnoses of immature stages, was used the characters, which were formerly tested by the author for diagnostics of other Hyalomma species occurring in the former USSR.
