Transient thermal modelling of substation connectors by means of dimensionality reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper proposes a simple, fast and accurate simulation approach based on one-dimensional reduction and the application of the finite difference method (FDM) to determine the temperatures rise in substation connectors.

Advanced Fine Line Printing With Glass Stencils: Achieving Metal Contact Fingers Below 10 μm

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, Volume 34, Issue 1, Page 29-38, January 2026.
This study presents a novel metallization process using microstructured glass stencils to achieve ultra‐fine line contact fingers for solar cells. The contact fingers are as narrow as 9.7 ± 0.6 μm with an optical aspect ratio of 0.45 ± 0.1. To realize these ultra‐fine line contacts, the laser induced deep etching (LIDE) process was used to create ...

Magnetic‐Thermal Coupling Analysis of the End Region of a Large Steam Turbine Generator in the Phase Advancing State Based on the Improved TSO and SVR Regression Models

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
In this study, we have developed a 3D magnetic‐thermal simulation model of a 320 MVA steam turbine generator. We explore the significant impact of the armature reaction in the phase advancing state, which leads to increased leakage magnetic fields and fluctuations in the stator end magnetic field.

Ferromagnetically Shielded Fault Current Limiter (FS‐FCL) Evaluation in Power Line

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study introduces a new ferromagnetically shielded FS‐FCL design and its control strategy for limiting and interrupting fault currents. The fully shielded core structure enhances inductance and prevents saturation, enabling an immediate fault response without causing voltage drop during normal conditions.

An AI‐Based Technique for Fault Location in Inverter‐Based Active Distribution Networks

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper presents a modified one‐dimensional convolutional neural network with residual connections for fault location in inverter‐based active distribution networks. The method accurately identifies fault distance and location even in complex networks with multiple distributed generators and high fault resistance.

Data‐Driven Hybrid Approach for Condition and Risk Assessment of Secondary Equipment in Converter Stations

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study develops a data‐driven hybrid framework for assessing the condition and risk of converter stations. By combining adaptive thresholding, a condition assessment algorithm and a two‐stage Weibull failure model, it enables early fault detection and quantification of equipment degradation. Case study shows enhanced sensitivity to latent failures,

All-pass-filter-based active damping for VSCs with LCL filters connected to weak grids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
LCL filters are commonly used to connect Voltage Sourced Converters (VSCs) to the grid. This type of filter is cheaper than a single inductor for the same current THD, but it generates resonance problems if no active or passive damping method is applied.

A Review on Dielectric Materials and Composites: Polarisation Effects, Synthesis Methods and Applications

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, Volume 9, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
(1) The review consolidates the importance of dielectric polarisation effects, dielectric parameters, synthesis methods, matrix–filler interactions and emerging applications based on dielectric composite materials. (2) The study provides a structured overview by identifying critical aspects of dielectric research, with emphasis on polarisation ...

Generator Power Optimisation for a More-Electric Aircraft by Use of a Virtual Iron Bird [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A prodedure is developed to minimise the generator design power within the electric power system of a future more-/ all-electric aircraft. This allows to save weight on the generators and on other equipment of the electic power system.
