Hybrid Fibers and the Development of Cracking in Concrete

"SP-209: ACI Fifth Int Conf Innovations in Design with Emphasis on Seismic, Wind and Environmental Loading, Quality Con", 2002
Cracking in concrete is fundamentally altered by the addition of reinforcing fibers. A combination of microfibers and macrofibers that contribute in complementary ways to performance is presented as a means for controlling cracking and improving the life cycle behavior of concrete.

Hybrid fibre concrete: is there a synergetic effect?

2007
Concrete can be characterized as a brittle material with a low tensile strength and strain capacity. A more ductile material can be achieved by the use of fibres in the concrete. Indeed fibre concrete shows a softening response after cracking. Fibres of various shapes and sizes and produced from different materials can be used. Hybrid fibre concrete is

RUBBERIZED HYBRID FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE

2012
The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that by using industrial and recycled steel fibres together with recycled rubber, high quality rubberized hybrid fibre reinforced concrete (RHFRC) can be prepared. In such way, environmental and economic savings are provided without significant influence on mechanical and durability properties of concrete.

Shear strength of concrete–steel hybrid bridge girders

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1997
Twenty approximately half-scale elements were tested to investigate the vertical and horizontal shear resistances of a unique hybrid bridge girder consisting of a reinforced concrete web and steel plate flanges. A variety of failure modes were observed in the tests.

Stress-strain models for concrete in square hybrid multitube concrete columns

Advances in Structural Engineering
This paper presents the development of stress-strain models for the confined concrete in square fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP)-concrete-steel hybrid multitube concrete columns (MTCCs) subjected to uniaxial compression. A square MTCC consists of a square FRP outer tube and multiple inner steel tubes, with concrete filling the spaces inside all tubes. In

Impact of hybrid and non-hybrid fiber reinforced polymers on mechanical performance of concrete

Construction and Building Materials
Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) are widely recognized in construction for their excellent mechanical properties, low weight, and resistance to corrosion. Recent advancements have introduced various types of FRPs, including intraply hybrid composites (IRCs).
