SocialMiXR: Facilitating Hybrid Social Interactions at Conferences

Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction
Hybrid options at conferences, which support in-person and remote attendance, have increasingly become the norm in order to broaden participation and promote sustainability. However, hybrid conferences are challenging, where in-person and remote attendees often have disjoint, parallel experiences with limited opportunity to interact with each other. To

Should the Future of AIS Conferences be Hybrid?

Communications of the Association for Information Systems
Academic conferences provide a needed opportunity for academic community members to come together and share ideas. COVID-19 forced AIS to host conferences remotely for two years. From that experience, we learned a few things about virtualizing our conference activities including the potential for virtual conferences to widen participation and ...

Hybrid plasmonic-photonic resonators (Conference Presentation)

Active Photonic Materials VIII, 2016
Hybrid nanophotonic structures are structures that integrate different nanoscale platforms to harness light-matter interaction. We propose that combinations of plasmonic antennas inside modest-Q dielectric cavities can lead to very high Purcell factors, yielding plasmonic mode volumes at essentially cavity quality factors.

Nonadditive regulation confers phenotypic variation in hybrid maize

New Phytologist
Summary Our knowledge of how the parental genomes interact to shape hybrid performance remains limited. This work established four hybrid maize populations and evaluated plant height (PH) in both the parental and hybrid populations, generating an extensive transcriptome and translatome dataset.
