Coordination of MMCs With Hybrid DC Circuit Breakers for HVDC Grid Protection [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2019
A high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) grid protection strategy to suppress dc fault currents and prevent overcurrent in the arms of modular multi-level converters (MMCs) is proposed in this paper. The strategy is based on the coordination of half-bridge (HB) MMCs and hybrid dc circuit breakers (DCCBs).

A Worm‐Inspired Origami Robot with Multimodal Locomotion for Adaptive Mobility in Complex Pipeline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An origami worm‐inspired robot achieves multimodal locomotion in confined pipelines through mechatronic integration that embeds actuation, control, and communication within each origami module. Large, reversible configuration and dimensional changes enable 25 gaits synthesized by a unified framework across peristaltic, inchworm, and wheel‐rolling modes

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses

Spatiotemporally Ultrasound‐Controlled Nanoparticles Reprogramming Immunostimulatory Antigen‐Presenting Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts to Enhance Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed an ultrasound‐controlled biomimetic nanoplatform, mRNA/V@M NPs, to co‐deliver CD74 mRNA and V‐9302 for fibrotic TNBC therapy. CD74 mRNA reprograms myCAFs into antigen‐presenting apCAF cells through the CD74‐MHC II pathway, while V‐9302 induces ICD and activates MHC I‐CD8+ T cell immunity.

Design of LVDC Bidirectional Hybrid Circuit Breaker

open access: yes, 2021
One of the most challenging hindrances to the spread use of the DC grids is their protection devices. Due to the absence of zero crossing, when a fault occurs, arc extinction becomes an issue for the traditional mechanical circuit breakers. Thanks to the

Interruption characteristics of self-powered hybrid DC circuit breaker with synergistic effect of step-down and divided current

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The DC voltage level of photovoltaic and PEDF applications have continuously advanced, reaching up to DC3000V. This presents new requirements for DC circuit breakers operating at higher voltages (>DC1500V) to ensure effective fault protection in the DC ...

Drop‐Location‐Insensitive Droplet‐Based Electricity Generator Using Polydimethylsiloxane Slippery Covalently Attached Liquid Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Drop‐location sensitivity remains a key barrier to practical droplet‐based electricity generators (DEGs). Here, a polydimethylsiloxane slippery covalently attached liquid (PDMS‐SCAL)‐coated interface promotes droplet sliding instead of splitting or bouncing, allowing stable electricity generation from randomly falling raindrops. The resulting PDMS‐SCAL‐
