Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...

The novel application of optimization and charge blended energy management control for component downsizing within a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The adoption of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) is widely seen as an interim solution for the decarbonization of the transport sector. Within a PHEV, determining the required energy storage capacity of the battery remains one of the primary ...

Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Power Allocation Strategy for Wind Power Hybrid Storage Systems Based on Variational Modal Decomposition-Multifuzzy Control

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
A power allocation strategy based on variational modal decomposition-multifuzzy control for wind power hybrid storage system is proposed to address the poor grid-connected power quality caused by the uncertainty of wind power output and the poor power ...

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Hybrid Carbon-based Clathrates for Energy Storage [PDF]

open access: yesC, 2018
Hybrid carbon-silicon, carbon-nitrogen, and carbon-boron clathrates are new classes of Type I carbon-based clathrates that have been identified by first-principles computational methods by substituting atoms on the carbon clathrate framework with Si, N, and/or B atoms.
