A recently developed approach to synthesizing optimal stack filters under the mean absolute error (MAE) criterion (see B. Zong et al., 1991) is extended to FIR (finite impulse response) stack hybrid (FSH) filters, where FIR filters are assumed to be the average filter. This approach is demonstrated through synthesizing a group of optimal FSH filters in

SAR Speckle Filtering Using Hybrid NonLocal Sigma Filter
2021 18th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD), 2021Speckle noise in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images reduces the accuracy of their interpretation. In this paper, a hybrid filtering technique based on the Sigma filter and the non-local mean filter is proposed. The neighborhood used for the estimation of the filtered pixels is selected by analogy to the non-local filtering principle.

AbstractNarrow bandwidth bandstop filters or ‘notch filters’ are frequently required in both communication and electronic warfare systems. In the latter case the ability to switch into an ‘allpass’ state with a minimum level of loss and time delay distortion is vital. Furthermore, in both cases a level of 20‐30 dB rejection is normally required.

Median-rational hybrid filters
Proceedings 1998 International Conference on Image Processing. ICIP98 (Cat. No.98CB36269), 2002We introduce a new class of nonlinear filters called median-rational hybrid filters (MRHF) based on rational functions (RF). The filter output is the result of a rational operation taking into account three sub-functions, such as two FIR or median sub-filters and one center weighted median filter (CWMF).

We present an algorithm for sequential Bayesian estimation consisting of a hybrid method that combines a particle-based representation of the prior state uncertainty with an efficient grid-based method to estimate the posterior probability density. The proposed filter uses a Monte-Carlo empirical measure of the prior probability density to induce a ...

The terminal voltage series type active power filter is developed. The filter reduces output voltage harmonics in a wide range of load. It is effective for liner and nonlinear load from no load to full load operation. The filter consists of passive LC component and H-transistor bridge as active part.

Optimal edge-preserving hybrid filters
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1994Based on the least mean square error criterion at the edge position, a new algorithm is presented to obtain a class of optimal edge-preserving hybrid filters that include the Lee (1980) additive filter and the gradient inverse weighted filter. As a result, we show that the gain of the Lee additive filter is not optimal and derive the optimal form of ...

In this chapter, the hybrid active power filters are discussed. In Sect. 4.1, the development of hybrid active power filters (HAPFs) is initially presented. Then different hybrid active filter (HAPF) topologies have been compared and discussed in details in Sect. 4.2.

Automatic reading of hybridization filter images
Bioinformatics, 1995We describe a new technique for the automatic detection and characterization, in terms of location, size and intensity, of positive hybridization spots on hybridization filter images. We will also discuss how this information can be used to reconstruct the spot deposition pattern on the filter and thus identify the spots.
