An Overview of Hybrid Flow Shop Scheduling

International Journal of Green Computing, 2012
This paper is survey of hybrid flow shop scheduling problems. An HFS scheduling problem is a classical flow-shop in which parallel machines are available to perform the same operation. Most real world scheduling problems are NP-hard in nature. The hybrid flow shop scheduling problems have received considerable research attention.

Hybrid flow shop scheduling with finite buffers

International Journal of Simulation and Process Modelling, 2018
In this paper, the scheduling problem for hybrid flow shop is investigated with the consideration of the finite buffers. Different from the existing works which focus on the makespan minimisation under the constraints of given intermediate buffer sizes, this paper investigates how to decide the reasonable size of the intermediate buffer.

The Hybrid Flow Shop

2012
In this chapter we organize the literature on the hybrid flow shop scheduling problem that has appeared since the late 1950’s. We see a number of interesting and diverse industrial applications of this system, and find that the majority of research focuses on the makespan objective.

On the two-stage hybrid flow shop with dedicated machines

RAIRO - Operations Research, 2015
Summary: In this paper we develop new elimination rules and discuss several polynomially solvable cases for the two-stage hybrid flow shop problem with dedicated machines. We also propose a worst case analysis for several heuristics. Furthermore, we point out and correct several errors in the paper of \textit{J.

Hybrid Flow Shop Scheduling with Availability Constraints

2013
The success of a product depends on the costs incurred through its entire processing. Indeed, an efficient schedule can significantly reduce the total costs. Most of the literature on scheduling assumes that machines are always available. However, due to maintenance activities machines cannot operate continuously without some unavailability periods ...

Metaheuristic methods in hybrid flow shop scheduling problem

Expert Systems with Applications, 2011
Memetic algorithms are hybrid evolutionary algorithms that combine global and local search by using an evolutionary algorithm to perform exploration while the local search method performs exploitation. This paper presents two hybrid heuristic algorithms that combine particle swarm optimization (PSO) with simulated annealing (SA) and tabu search (TS ...

RELIABILITY CENTERED MULTI OBJECTIVE HYBRID FLOW SHOP SCHEDULING [PDF]

open access: possibleAsia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2009
Real world scheduling problems are complex in nature. They require satisfying multiple objectives. To get a realistic schedule, consideration of machine reliability and availability is very important to allocate job in machine. This research aims to develop two fuzzy inference systems (FIS) for hybrid flow shop problem.
