Hybrid Series-connected HVDC System Faults Analysis

2019 4th IEEE Workshop on the Electronic Grid (eGRID), 2019
Multi-infeed cascaded hybrid series-connected DC transmission technology combines the advantages of line commutated converters and voltage sourced converters. Hybrid DC transmission is expected to play an important role in future power transmission systems. It is of great importance to understand the system's behavior under steady and transient states.

A direct power control for Hybrid HVDC transmission systems

2011 IEEE Trondheim PowerTech, 2011
In this paper, a model-based Direct Power Controller (DPC) is proposed for Hybrid HVDC. This Hybrid comprises a Voltage Source converter (VSC) using in the sending side and Line-commutated Converter (LCC) using in the receiving side. This application is potentially attractive for power flow in one direction, for example the integration of offshore wind

Improved controls for LCC-VSC hybrid HVDC system

2013 International conference on Circuits, Controls and Communications (CCUBE), 2013
High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission systems continue to be an excellent asset in modern power systems. The classical HVDC system and VSC-HVDC system showed greater advantages in power transmission and industry. Meanwhile major disadvantages like commutation failure, reactive power requirement in classical system and high cost, high ...

Performance analysis of a hybrid multi-terminal HVDC system

2005 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2005
In this paper, after compared conventional CSC-HVDC system with VSC-HVDC system, a digital simulation model and its control scheme for hybrid three-terminal HVDC system based on VSC and CSC converters is proposed. The VSC is paralleled with the hybrid MTDC system, and can work either as a rectifier or as an inverter.

A hybrid HVDC transmission system supplying a passive load

2010 IEEE Electrical Power & Energy Conference, 2010
The operational characteristics of a Voltage Source Converter (VSC)-HVDC transmission system make it a versatile asset in modern power systems. The advantages of the new technology are somewhat offset by some drawbacks, such as the high power losses, equipment insulation stresses, and relatively high cost.
