Reliability evaluation of hybrid multiterminal HVDC subtransmission systems
IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 2002An approach to determining the reliability of a hybrid multiterminal HVDC sub-transmission system is presented. The performance analysis of a multiterminal HVDC subtransmission system is divided into three main segments: the rectifiers, the inverters and the underground cable system.

A direct power control for Hybrid HVDC transmission systems
2011 IEEE Trondheim PowerTech, 2011In this paper, a model-based Direct Power Controller (DPC) is proposed for Hybrid HVDC. This Hybrid comprises a Voltage Source converter (VSC) using in the sending side and Line-commutated Converter (LCC) using in the receiving side. This application is potentially attractive for power flow in one direction, for example the integration of offshore wind

Performance analysis of a hybrid multi-terminal HVDC system
2005 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2005In this paper, after compared conventional CSC-HVDC system with VSC-HVDC system, a digital simulation model and its control scheme for hybrid three-terminal HVDC system based on VSC and CSC converters is proposed. The VSC is paralleled with the hybrid MTDC system, and can work either as a rectifier or as an inverter.

A hybrid HVDC transmission system supplying a passive load
2010 IEEE Electrical Power & Energy Conference, 2010The operational characteristics of a Voltage Source Converter (VSC)-HVDC transmission system make it a versatile asset in modern power systems. The advantages of the new technology are somewhat offset by some drawbacks, such as the high power losses, equipment insulation stresses, and relatively high cost.

Dynamic performance of hybrid multiinfeed HVDC system on RTDS
2014 Eighteenth National Power Systems Conference (NPSC), 2014Multiinfeed HVDC systems are planned to meet the high demand of power in heavy load centers in developing countries. A multiinfeed HVDC system inverting into a weak AC network are of serious concern. The possible solution for better stability is using a VSC-HVDC as one of the infeed for the multiinfeed system.

Simulation Study for a Hybrid Multi-terminal HVDC System
2005/2006 PES TD, 2006A digital simulation model for a hybrid three terminal HVDC system is developed. In the hybrid three terminal HVDC system, both a VSC and a CSC are used. Based on the developed HVDC system, a control scheme is proposed, in which a DC constant current control is used for the CSC type rectifier, a constant extinction angle control is used for the CSC ...

Control Strategy of Hybrid HVDC System Based on LCC and Hybrid MMC
2019 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2019The Hybrid high voltage direct current (HVDC) system combines the advantages of both line commutated converter (LCC) and modular multilever converter (MMC). However, when it is applied to large-capacity overhead line transmission, there are two key problems: DC side fault self-clearance and the maintenance of power transmission after a fault occurred ...

HYBRID HVDC CONVERTERS AND THEIR IMPACT ON POWER SYSTEM DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006Abstract Hybrid converter HVDC transmission is a new hybrid transmission system for connecting two AC systems. Because it uses different converters, this new configuration offers several advantages over conventional HVDC systems. This paper demonstrates the superior performance of hybrid converter based HVDC transmission systems with respect to ...

Imtplementation of the Hybrid Inverter for HVDC/Weak AC System Interconnection
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1986The difficulties of operating HVDC system into weak AC system can be overcome by using the hybrid inverter. The objective of this paper is to find the best approach to implement the hybrid inverter. Among the various possible approaches, two artificially commutated converters employing the capacitive approach fulfill certain basic performance criteria ...
