Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Ruthenium (II)-coordinated supramolecular drug self-assembly for efficient combination chemotherapy

open access: yesSupramolecular Materials
Combination chemotherapy has been considered a crucial approach in cancer treatment to address the limitations of traditional single-drug therapy. However, the common strategies that encapsulate therapeutic agents with different mechanisms into a single “

Tailored material properties using textile composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Lightweighting is essential for the reduction of energy consumption in transportation. The most common approach is through the application of high specific strength and stiffness materials, such as composites and high performance aluminum alloys.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

Virtual or In‐Person: Does It Matter? Comparing Pain, Function, Quality of Life, Self‐Efficacy, and Physical Function Outcomes of Virtual, Hybrid, and In‐Person Education and Exercise Program Participants

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to determine if program format (in‐person, virtual, or hybrid) results in differences in 3‐month outcomes of pain, function, quality of life, self‐efficacy, and chair stands in a hip/knee osteoarthritis‐management program. Methods A secondary analysis of the Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark (GLA:D) Canada database was

New Layered Polythiophene-Silica Composite Through the Self-Assembly and Polymerization of Thiophene-Based Silylated Molecular Precursors

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
A new layered hybrid polythiophene-silica material was obtained directly by hydrolysis and polycondensation (sol-gel) of a silylated-thiophene bifunctional precursor, and its subsequent oxidative polymerization by FeCl3.

Characterization and Thermoelectric Behavior of Super-growth Carbon Nanotube Films Co-loaded with ZnO and Ag Colloids

open access: yesElectrochemistry, 2020
The fabrication of low-temperature waste heat power conversion modules will require the development of thermoelectric materials based on mass-produced nanotubes such as super-growth carbon nanotubes (SGCNTs), rather than high-quality nanotubes generated ...
